Today, we are thrilled to announce our biggest update yet: the 2026 Major Release of Swipe Photo Cleaner, featuring full optimization for iOS 26 and iOS 27, next-generation kinetic swipe physics, and on-device intelligent triage.
Over the past year, our community has grown to over 500,000 active users who have collectively freed more than 2,500 Terabytes (2.5 Petabytes!) of cluttered camera roll storage. Here is everything that's new in this landmark release.
1. Month-by-Month Chapter Timeline
One of the biggest psychological hurdles of cleaning a camera roll is feeling overwhelmed by 15,000 or 30,000 photos. With our new Monthly Chapters navigation:
- Your entire photo history is automatically partitioned into bite-sized monthly albums.
- You can tackle "June 2025" or "December 2024" in a quick 2-minute session during a commute or coffee break.
- A visual completion badge marks months you have fully triaged, turning photo cleanup into a satisfying game.
2. Hardware-Accelerated Kinetic Swipe Physics
We completely rebuilt the card rendering engine using Apple's latest Metal and CoreAnimation frameworks:
- Zero Lag Pre-Caching: High-resolution photos and 4K video frames pre-load in milliseconds so your swiping gestures feel as fluid as flipping physical cards.
- Kinetic Tilt & Stamp Feedback: Dragging left reveals a dynamic red DELETE stamp; dragging right displays a green KEEP stamp. Haptic engine pulses give physical feedback with every swipe.
- Instant Undo: Accidentally swiped the wrong way? Tap the undo arrow to instantly retrieve the previous card.
3. 4K & Spatial Video Playback Scrubber
Videos are the #1 consumer of storage on modern iPhones. Our updated video engine auto-plays clips in full clarity with an overlay showing the exact file size and duration:
- Quickly determine if a 2-minute video was an intentional memory or an accidental recording of your pocket.
- Tossing heavy videos into trash gives you instant feedback on your live MB/GB reclaimed counter.

While other cleaner apps increasingly push your media to cloud servers for "AI processing", we have doubled down on our core philosophy: Your memories belong to you alone.
All similarity clustering and facial recognition operate strictly on-device using the Apple Neural Engine. Swipe Photo Cleaner has zero access to your photos, does not require an account, and functions 100% offline in Airplane Mode.
5. No Predatory Weekly Subscriptions
We remain committed to fair pricing. Unlike competitors who quietly charge $7.99 per week ($415/year!), Swipe Photo Cleaner offers a genuine free tier that allows full cleaning, alongside an optional, transparent one-time lifetime license.
